Displaying wonderfully, this rifle is usually found in well worn
condition. This specimen displays all components and modifications
applied at Harpers Ferry Arsenal when it was bored to .58 cal., long
range sights applied, front band shortened to accommodate the stud for
sword bayonet, and include correct original ramrod.
Bore, while slightly dark, exhibits very good rifling. Front sling is
broken (swivel remains). Correct Harpers Ferry Stock, block letter
inspected opposite lock JL?
Converted for issue to regular U.S. Army troops, many found their way
into Confederate service by way of capture in U.S. Arsenals in the
South.
There is a photo in existence of a Co. A 5th Georgia Vol. (the Clinch
Rifles) armed with the identical style weapon. Great display item.
Reasonably priced at $3,750.00
